Strange incident in West Indies-India match, laughs Rohit
A strange incident happened in the first match of the West Indies-India T20 series. Windies bowler Obed McCoy did not run out Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin despite getting a chance.
Why did McCoy do this?- Only this Caribbean star can answer that question.
Indian team captain Rohit Sharma was laughing from the dressing room after seeing this act of Obed. McCoy sparked a debate by committing such an act in the match at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Friday. The incident happened in 17.3 overs of the Indian innings. Dinesh Karthik plays a long-on and runs to take the run. Ashwin responded when Karthik called for two runs. But Ashwin's run was slow in taking the second run. At this time, Obed caught the ball thrown by the fielder and put it on the stumps. But for some strange reason, the ball did not touch the stumps. Looking back, the batter Ashwin has not yet reached the crease. Still, Obed stood holding the ball.
But it was easy for Obed to drop the bell. Ashwin could have been sent back to Sajghar. Ashwin remained unbeaten with 13 runs off 10 balls. India defeated the West Indies in that match by a huge margin of 68 runs.
Batting first, India accumulated a huge collection of 190 runs for 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. The highest run (64) came from the bat of captain Rohit Sharma. Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten with blistering innings of 41 runs off 19 balls.
